BRUTUS – A group of local, female artists have come together to organize a Mother’s Day market this Saturday with handmade gifts perfect for all mums.

The market will have a total of nine vendors and a plethora of different items for sale including pottery, feather boxes, beads, flowers, jewelry and more.

“We did our first market like this last year and it was really successful and so much fun,” said market organizer Kathleen Moody.

“I think anyone who attends this market will be truly impressed with the women there and their incredible arts and crafts,” she said.

The next Mother’s Day Market on Saturday, April 23 will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brutus’ Red School House at 2025 Red School Road. According to Moody’s, it’s the perfect place for an artisan market.

“It’s a really great and historic place. It’s pretty cool to be able to exhibit our market in the old school,” Moody said.

“It will be a smaller market, but it works well that way. It will be a nice, intimate kind of shop,” she said.

One of the exhibiting artists included in the market is local potter Kim Meyer who, like Moody’s, is excited about the upcoming market.

She had visited the previous Moody’s market and had been truly impressed with the amount of artwork that filled the little schoolhouse. She is now included in the market and ready to share her wares.

“I’ll have my mugglis that I make but I’ll also have a selection of things that would be appropriate for Mother’s Day,” Meyer said.

“Because it’s a small space, I won’t be bringing my whole stock of stuff, but I’ll have a few new surprises just for that, which should be fun,” she said.

Other artists included in the upcoming Mother’s Day Market include Yvonne Walker Keshick and her Feather Boxes, 3 White Feathers with their pearls, Open Sky Farm, Karen Mazzoline, Caroline Gamache and Wild Wood Waters.

Moody will also have her own space with her daughter selling organic goat’s milk soaps and lotions.

“It’s really going to be a special market for everyone involved and for those who all come to see us,” Moody said.

“I think everyone will be delightfully surprised at what they might find,” she said.

The Mother’s Day Market is a one-day event taking place at the Red School House in Brutus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, April 23. The red school house is located at 2025, chemin de l’école rouge in Brutus.
